Last summer when my parents were out here we started thinking that all 4 of us kids would be home and available to get together this year. So we started planning a little reunion with just my parents and brothers. Some drove, some flew, and some drove and flew, but we all ended up together for at least a couple of days.
You can't come to St. Joe without a visit to Silver Beach Pizza.
Annie even liked playing with the dough they give kids while they food is coming.
After pizza, we let Maden play in the fountain right next door. I didn't get any pictures of that -- only of Annie getting her dinner in the shade of a tiny umbrella Celia had in the car.
Randy and Courtney ready for the ride.
Jared and I (and some photobombers) ready for the dune ride.
Ken and I ready to go.
Somehow they modified these old trucks into 20 passenger dune buggies.
We stopped at the top of one of the dunes and the driver took some pictures for us.
Maden wanted to be buired in the sand -- in all his clothes.
Celia burying Maden
Cute pic of the two of them at the top of the hill
There was no speedometer on the truck, but we were going pretty fast. The driver warned everyone with hats that they would blow off if not turned backward. Dad sure felt like a cool dude with his turned around the wrong way.
This was the steepest part of the whole ride. Celia made sure she got in front to avoid any carsickness that might happen. We all appreciated that.
We started planning this long before we moved into the new house, so we reserved a Chalet on the Lake about 2 miles from the house. It was a nice place with pools, fishing, play areas, and beach access. The boys had fun catching little fish and throwing them back in the pond. We did go to the beach, but the weather was absolutely disgusting -- cold, gray and windy. I was too mad to take any pictures of that day. The boys did have fun with the boogie boards in the huge waves, and Dad and Maden dug a huge hole in the sand, so it wasn't a total loss.
Brian couldn't come to my house because he had class every day. So after a few days in Michigan, we all loaded up and drove to Brian's house so he could be part of the reunion too.
We played tennis the first night and had a lovely evening for it.
The boys all went on a fishing trip on Lake Erie, so the girls and kids had our own fun day at the beach. We stopped for lunch at a little diner and sat at this weird narrow table. We made it work and we beat the rush that came in with the rain.
They sure let them drive young in Pennsylvania!
Mom wanted some pictures of everyone that was there. So everyone put on their smiles and was very cooperative. All the pics came from my phone, either taken by me, or by timer. Pretty good I think. We got some good pics, and had some good backgrounds just in the area around Brian's house. It was a great little reunion, but I call not being in charge of the next one :)
