Shedd Aquarium

Friday Syd was out of school, so Ken took the day off and we drove to Chicago to go to the aquarium. We really hoped that it would be quiet and not packed with people like our other visits. We got there right after it opened, and got our wish. It was very quiet and we could get really close to all of the exhibits. It was a good visit to the aquarium.

The best part of the day was definitely the belugas. They were so friendly, happy and interactive. We stood by their tank for a half hour just watching them swim around. One was very friendly and stayed right in front of us the whole time, squeaking, clicking and blowing air at us. She even turned in a circle when Syd twirled her finger. So fun.

There were 3 whales in the tank, but two were more friendly than the other one.

Another fun thing was the jellies exhibit. I didn't know there were so many types and shapes of jellies. The picture in the middle on the right hand side is the bottom view of upside down jellies. They sit on the sand -- not float around like the jellies you usually think of.
