Christmas and Projects

We had a great Christmas this year. I didn't take many pictures of actual Christmas morning, but I did get some of the presents in action, which is even better.

Syd and I both got some styling new headware :)

This was our first official Christmas without a visit from Santa, so I did something different with Syd's stocking stuffers. Leading up to Christmas I kept putting more and more in her stocking, but on Christmas morning they were all "kidnapped." I had hidden them all over the house and taken a picture of Storm in the area where they were hidden. Each time she found one, it had another picture with the next location on it. She was running all over the house! She said she liked it, so we'll see if we keep it as a tradition.

The animals can't be left out of the presents. Storm always gets a big new bone and the cats get more rats to lose all over the house.

One of the coolest things Ken gave me is a macro lens that attaches to my iPhone. I can't believe the clarity and detail you can get out of a camera phone. The first thing I tried it on was a sparkly ornament on the tree. Then I saw one of Toad's new blue rats and had to see what it looked like too :)

By far the handiest gift was the under the cupboard iPad holder. I love it! I'm obsesses with pinterest and always need to look at recipes. This keeps it accesible and much safer! No worries about spills or things getting dropped on it.

Syd got a kit to make different body parts out of household items. The first experiment was a lifesize brain. It was squishy and surprisingly heavy.
Syd is out of school this week and next week, so I turned to my trusty pinterest for ideas to keep her occupied. We haven't done all of them yet, but the ones we have done have been pretty fun, and relatively easy, which is just was I need!

I got a huge dictionary at the used bookstore for $3. We tore out the pages and used them to make snowflakes. The dictionary pages were my idea, but all the shapes came from pinterest.

Another fun project we did was making our own thank you cards. The pattern in the pan got transfered to a paper and left to dry.

The last project we did was an optical illusion art project. She literally worked on it all day, and was determined to finish before she went to bed.

We have a few more projects to do next week. Everything from making beach glass candy, to a no-sew pillow, to another use for the dictionary pages.
