Ken and I are so proud of her for wanting to be a good student. After seeing the report card and going to parent/teacher conference, Ken let Syd pick her reward for getting good grades. (It's never discussed before school starts, so it's not an expectation at all, but a true reward).
Syd picked an ice cream maker. It's actually pretty cool -- a couple of bowls that go in the freezer, and a little motor with a beater to mix it all up. The longest part was waiting for the bowls to get cold enough.

I'm not sure how she came up with this idea, but as long as we have the stuff to make ice cream and the bowls are cold, we should never be out of ice cream again!
