New Cousin

Syd's newest cousin, Emerson Victoria has arrived! We got to go meet her at the hospital for a minute. Syd was very excited to meet her and that she has a new little girl in the famly. Emerson was so quiet and calm while we were there. She woke up, but didn't fuss at all, just looked around and waved her little arms. Welcome to the family Emerson.

While Emerson was making her entrance into the world, we were babysitting Storm's cousin, Oreo. He's a 6 month old Shih Tzu and he is fearless. I was amazed at how well the intial introduction between he and Storm went. Storm has been so good about letting a little pipsqueak into her house, play with her toys, and even drink her water. Storm has loved having another dog in the house, but I can't say the same for the cats!

The first meeting was thru the sliding glass door. Oreo yipped and wanted to play right away.

We brought Storm in, and Oreo just jumped right on her. No hesitation at all. Storm wasn't sure what to think, but didn't take long to decide Oreo wasn't a snack, but somebody fun to play with.

The cats have been less than thrilled with our houseguest. They all try to find hiding places that Oreo can't get to.

Later, especially, has had a hard time with Oreo. I think Oreo can sense it because he chases Later all over the house, until Later jumps on the couch or somewhere else out of his reach.

They play constantly. They'll fight each other for a few minutes, then take a break and curl up next to each other.

Birthdays

I was bad and didn't blog Syd's birthday at the beginning of the month, but I waited just long enough I can do a two-fer this time.

We've watched too much Cake Boss with Syd. She had to have something with teirs and fondant.

We played water balloons in the backyard. We were smart and told the kids they couldn't have one until all of them were filled up. Made it much easier on us.

Syd and her two favorite friends Kaitlin and Hollee

Ken made a fort in the basment and all the girls slept on the blowup mattress together.

Today is Storm's 3rd birthday. We went shopping for her this weekend and found some good treats and a cute octopus toy.

I lined up all the treats and let her pick the one that seemed tastiest.

She picked the one that looked like a root beer float

She LOVES her octopus.

Now the trick will be to get it to last more than a week. She's really hard on toys!
